ARLESEY TOWN LADIES.
Arlesey Ladies victory: Ladies team took part in the St Osyth annual 7-a-side tournament on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th June.
By winning 2 and losing 2 games on the Saturday, they were entered into the lower half of the table and played in the Den Morris Memorial Cup competition on the Sunday.
They won 2, drew 1 and lost 1 game in our group, and finished 3rd in their group. The top 2 teams from each group went through to the last 8, but with the other groups being very close on points, they had to wait for the other groups to complete penalty shoot out's to find out whether they qualified as the best 3rd placed team.
They won their quarter and semi final's without conceding any goals and after 2 back-to-back games they had a 20 minute break before the final. After a team photo, they played the final and won convincingly, being the only teams left when at the ground when the final ended.
It was a nice bonus for the girls that played in the County Cup final only to be beaten by a stronger team on the night. Arlesey ladies will return next June to defend the title. The trophy is displayed at the club in the cabinet.
